Now to be completely honest this may be slightly biased due to the fact that I love anything with Johnny Depp.
I wasn't expecting miracles from this installment of the Pirates franchise, as we all know sequels tend to be a bit of a let down, but I was at least expecting entertainment, and that's exactly what I got. Enough action to keep my attention, enough (relatively weak) sub plots to again keep my attention, more beautifully generated effects, costumes and sets and enough Jack Sparrow to keep the Depp fan inside of me happy (although it's difficult to get enough of Jack Sparrow) The thin plot revolves around The British, the Spanish and Jack Sparrow and Co. racing to find the elusive fountain of youth. There's love and treachery, fighting, fantasy and magic including mermaids & little ships in bottles, and of course the comedy that is Jack Sparrows character. I'm certainly not going to rave about this, I'm not expecting Oscar nominations and I'm not even sure I'd get too excited about seeing this on the big screen, but all in all it's a good entertaining movie and thought it was good enough to buy movie tickets but I wouldn't hold it against you if you waited for the DVD/Blu-ray. I suppose I should have some sort of rating system for these reviews so I give it a a solid 3 out of 5 (honest bias included)
